Three BC Minor Hockey teams took to the ice to enjoy a private skate at Rogers Arena and an autograph session with Canucks Alumni Kirk McLean before taking home game-changing prizes.

BC Minor Hockey players and parents from the Vancouver U7 Angels, Aldergrove U9 Bruins, and Sunshine Coast U13 C2 Blues enjoyed a late afternoon skate at the home of the Vancouver Canucks.

They arrived at Rogers Arena, laced up their skates and stepped onto the ice wearing Canuck jerseys and smiles on their faces. The smiles were understandable—it's not every day you get the opportunity to skate on the same ice where your hockey idols play! 

The teams came together to celebrate winning the Lordco Minor Hockey Contest. Lordco Auto Parts runs the contest every year in October in partnership with the Vancouver Canucks. From all contest entrants, we select three teams to award up to $3,500 to purchase new gear, cover tournament fees, and pay for other team expenses. This year, the Sunshine Coast U13 C2 Blues took home $3,500, the Vancouver U7 Angels, $2,500, and the Aldergrove U9 Bruins, $1,500.

The highlight of the private skate was a meet-and-greet with Vancouver Canucks alumni Kirk McLean. Mclean backstopped for the Canucks from 1987-1998, including the 1994 Stanley Cup finals. It was an honour to have him at the skate to talk to the players, present prizes and sign autographs.
