The Nova was purchased by Damian in 2013 and completely transformed through an extensive rotisserie restoration. The project included significant body modifications and fresh paint.

Like any ambitious build, the Nova presented its share of challenges. One of the most complex was relocating the gas filler behind the taillight using an air-powered actuator and kick-switch; a custom solution that required careful planning and engineering to execute properly.

The second goal was to modernize the driving experience. To achieve this, Damian, owner of DownLow Performance Inc, a custom car shop in Osoyoos, BC, upgraded the hydraulics and installed a 525-horsepower GM Performance LS3 crate engine. Other upgrades include a TREMEC T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission, specifically designed for retrofit installs, and a Ford 9" rear end with a 3.50 gear.

The finished product delivers the reliability and driving experience of a modern vehicle while preserving the unmistakable character of a classic '60s muscle car.

Throughout the build, Lordco Auto Parts was a trusted source for the parts and products. "I always have a great experience working with Lordco," he said. One of his go-to brands is Pico.

Damian's third goal was to create a rolling portfolio of his craftsmanship. Every square inch of the car demonstrates the level of quality and attention to detail Damian brings as a custom car builder. The full rotisserie restoration and many body modifications were painstakingly thought out in advance and executed to perfection. Damian drew inspiration from automobile designer, artist, and custom car builder deity Chip Foose, thinking, "What would Foose do?"

With the Nova now complete and serving as a showcase of his capabilities, Damian is already looking ahead. His next project is a 1959 V8 Stealth Beetle, with work currently underway and sure to be another impressive example of his custom craftsmanship capabilities.
