Happily Ever After

The tree-lined road stretched ahead like a living tunnel of green, arching over the 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS as it rolled toward the fairytale setting of Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. Every fairytale needs a hero—and this story’s hero just arrived in style.

The first time Gary saw photos of the Impala, something clicked. He’d always admired its wide stance, the semi-fastback roofline, those curvaceous fenders, and overall, Coke-bottle styling. As a teenager, he even built an AMT model of one, dreaming of the day he’d own the real thing.

When an SS popped up for sale in Regina, Saskatchewan, Gary didn’t hesitate. One look in person, and he knew—it was meant to be. He bought it on the spot. But bringing it home would be another story.

Winter was closing in on the Prairies, and a snowstorm was on the horizon. Gary started the car and began the slow drive back home, not sure how the Impala would perform.

But his worry was for nothing. The 427 roared to life on the open road and didn’t miss a beat—pushing through the cold, mile after mile, all the way home.

For Gary, his Chevrolet Impala isn’t just a car—it’s an escape into another world. Behind the wheel, he leaves everything else behind.

Preserving classic cars like the Impala brings Gary pure joy and reminds him that every vehicle has a story to tell. And Gary's favourite story to tell is about his 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS.
