Preserving the History of Classic Cars
Tim of DRVN Motorsports drove up to the shoot location on the outskirts of Calgary, Alberta in a 1959 Chevrolet Impala. As he rolled in, so did the dark clouds, announcing his arrival with rain. What would have been an ideal photoshoot backdrop—a golden summer field—quickly became a minefield of murky puddles and mud.

We set off in search of a new spot. Merging back onto the long, straight highway, a side road caught our eye. The wipers brushed away the rain, revealing the perfect location and a chance to capture the iconic details of DRVN's Impala.
Getting the Impala to its current state took effort but was worth it in the end. DRVN Motorsports transported the vehicle from Vancouver Island back to its facility in Calgary. As soon as the vehicle arrived at its new home, the work began, starting with a full suspension component refresh, carburetor tune, transmission repair, and a complete polish. Tim's vision kept him motivated to continue the work. He imagined driving the Impala from one car show to another, helping preserve the history of classic cars.
The four-door flat top is a breathtaking example of vehicular craftsmanship—every curve and edge perfection. Raindrops beaded on the two-tone frost metallic and Harbor Blue paint reflected light off every detail. Exclusive to the 1959 model year were the mesmerizing cat-eye taillights.
As the photoshoot wrapped up, Tim brought his vision to life one more time. He pulled onto the road and slowly cruised down the straight stretch, the purr of the 283 stroker engine and the hum of the whitewall tires filling the air. The distinctive taillights slipped into the distance—along with the era he and the DRVN team had resurrected.
Like DRVN Motorsports Impala, it's often a vehicle's colour that initially grabs your attention. Paint pulls all the details together, highlighting design features and creating intrigue. Whether you need paint for a small touch-up or a full restoration like Tim's, you can rely on Lordco Auto Parts for all your paint mixing and matching needs. We offer a wide range of aerosol paint and touch-up pens from trusted brands like Dupli-Color, Aervoe Industries, and VHT for those smaller jobs.
For larger projects or precise colour matching, we exclusively use PPG Envirobase automotive paint — a waterborne solution and global leader in high-performance auto paints. This ensures that whether you're restoring a classic beauty or working on a modern vehicle, you achieve exceptional quality. For commercial and light industrial applications, we carry PPG's Delfleet and Versolon coating solutions, while DIY enthusiasts and body shops can request PPG's economical Shop-line paint — a solvent-based formula for everything needed to achieve professional results at an affordable price.
The paint-matching process is straightforward: simply provide us with your paint code. If your vehicle's colour has faded or is difficult to match, we can scan a panel or sample of your vehicle's paint. Our scanner generates a list of closely matched OEM colours ranked from closest to furthest match. While we strive for an exact match—keeping in mind that variables like paint fade can affect results—we've enhanced our capabilities and trained our paint team to achieve results as close as possible.
Our new blend centre features cutting-edge technology like the PPG MOONWALK system—an automatic waterborne paint mixing machine that minimizes human error and boosts productivity. This system dispenses and measures paint with impressive precision down to 0.01 grams for error-proof results.
